Walled City Music with funding from Arts Council of Northern Ireland have commissioned Frank Lyons and Acoustronic to create a new work in collaboration with the Ulster Orchestra. The new piece is entitled Zoom Time and will be based on the experiences of the musicians in Acoustronic during the Covid pandemic.

Acoustronic will feature with the Benyounes Quartet in a performance of Frank Lyons' NonZeroSum at the RNCM Chamber Music Festival on 17 March 2019. The performance will be a world first for an inclusive ensemble using the latest network technology to bring together Acoustronic performing in Derry and Benyounes in Manchester.

Acoustronic have been appointed as Ensemble in Residence at the Royal Irish Academy of Music (RIAM) and will be the lead ensemble in the Creative Ireland funded Le Chéile Project. This bold and visionary appointment by RIAM is a world first; Acoustronic are the first inclusive ensemble to be appointed as ensemble in residence at a national music conservatory anywhere in the world.

Musicians from Acoustronic are to collaborate with Ulster University PhD researcher Lewis Smith on the project entitled 'Inclusive Software Design Enabling Disabled and Non-Disabled Musicians to Compose and Perform Music in an Immersive Virtual Network'.

Denise White, who is one of the key researchers on Inclusive Creativity has been awarded her PhD by Ulster University for her groundbreaking gestural system 'Conductology'.

Inclusive Creativity and Walled City Music have won an Ulster University Impact Excellence Award for their collaborative effort in leveling the playing field for disabled artists in musical composition and performance.

Acoustronic has been selected to take part in a showcase event in Lisbon, Portugal on 28th January. It is the only initiative selected from across the UK to present at the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation’s international ‘Partis’ showcase in Lisbon, celebrating artistic practice as a means of social intervention for social inclusion.

John Lynch, from Greysteel, Northern Ireland has been with Acoustronic since it started in 2015. In this short film, he talks about what music means to him and how his life has been affected through his experience of Inclusive Creativity.

Acoustronic will tour to Dublin on 1 November for a performance at University College Dublin as part of the 23rd International Conference on Virtual Systems and Multimedia. The group will be joined by the Benyounes String Quartet for a performance of Frank Lyons's NonZeroSum commission, plus new compositions for the group.

On 2 June 2017, Acoustronic and the Benyounes quartet joined forces to premiere Frank Lyons's new commission NonZeroSum, alongside other new compositions and George Crumb's iconic Black Angels piece. 

Inclusive Creativity: Digital Practices is a public symposium organised by Dr Brendan McCloskey, Prof. Frank Lyons and Dr Brian Bridges, at Ulster University, Magee campus on May 31st 2017. The event is being held in association with the Walled City Music Festival and is being supported by Garfield Weston. 

On Saturday 3 June 2017,  Walled City Music Festival presents an outstanding opportunity for composers to work with the NonZeroSum Ensemble, combining players from Acoustronic Ensemble and the Benyounes String Quartet with composer Frank Lyons to create new work for this unique group.

A group of young people in Derry/Londonderry are pioneering new ways of making music in a ground-breaking pilot project led by Walled City Music. Entitled ‘Inclusive Creativity’ the initiative aims to develop new approaches to the composition and performance of music that are accessible to everyone, regardless of ability or disability.
